Warriors
When the Golden State Warriors forced a Game 7 against the Houston Rockets, it was assumed that a lot of people would tune in, and the people didn’t disappoint. TNT’s broadcast of Game 7 delivered an overnight rating of 10.3 making it the second highest-rated NBA game in terms of TV ever.

TNT’s 2018 NBA WCF Game 7 (Warriors/Rockets) delivered cable television’s second highest-rated NBA game telecast of all time and the highest rating for an NBA game this year across all of television (cable and broadcast), based on a 10.3 metered market rating
The only game that ever had a higher rating also involved Durant and the Warriors, except Durant was on the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Game 7 in the 2016 Western Conference Finals that saw the Warriors come back from a 3-1 deficit was the highest rated ever.
This game had some competition being on Memorial Day Weekend, and Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final airing at the same time, but the people who tuned in were in for quite the treat.

This wasn’t the only game over the long weekend to pull in big numbers. The Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers Game 7 pulled in an overnight rating of 9.1,which was tied for the highest number ever on ESPN for an NBA basketball game.
The entire series averaged an overnight rating of 6.3 which was up 37 percent from last years Eastern Conference Finals on TNT.

It’s good to see that NBA ratings continue to rise at a time that NFL ratings have continued to steadly decrease. It will be interesting to see how the NBA ratings are in the Finals, with the two conference Finals expected to be the much more exciting matchups. The Warriors head into this meeting as huge favorites, and there is a good chance that the series doesn’t last more than four or five games.
